Introduction to Gleneagles

When Gleneagles opened its doors in 1924, it was described as "a Riviera of the Highlands" and "the eighth wonder of the world". The Hotel still remains dedicated to excellence offering a substantial range of activities both strenuous and relaxing.

Until 1982, the Hotel was only open during the summer months but after a massive injection of capital the hotel can now be enjoyed around the year. In 1986, Gleneagles was awarded the Automobiles Association's supreme accolade of Five Red Stars which it has retained every year.

The facilities and services are really second to none. In 1993, the 5.9 million PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, opened to complement the renowned King's and Queen's Courses to form one of the world's finest golfing venues. In addition, the Hotel offers a superb Health and Beauty Spa and a wealth of sporting facilities including top-class shooting, fishing, riding, falconry and off-road driving.
